Make sure the service is started and startup type is “Automatic”.

Scroll down to “Remote Procedure Call (RPC)” – right-click and go to properties.

Open the Run window again, type “services.msc” and press ok to get services window.

Open run again, type “%temp%” and press enter to get the temporary files.

Again, go to run window, type – “ c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.

Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type " printui.exe /s" (there is a space between. Delete any printer entry or any entry which says “Unknown device”.

Also, check the entries under "printer queue" and "imaging devices" and repeat the same exercise.

Then from the device manager list, check the entries under “Printer” – If there are any entries, please right click and choose “uninstall” – In the confirm device un-install pop-up, make sure you select the box which says “Delete the driver software for this device".

Maybe in the future I will first try to install the drivers, and once I succeed I will consider purchasing this product again. Unfortunately now it's not a good time for me to do that as it would disrupt my work. Things I haven't tried which may work: Re-installing Windows 10. The procedure suggested on this thread here

I tried installing an older version (even though there wasn't a previous version on my machine *at all* ) the 64_v3-18-0_r1786 installed just fine.
